Christians are not required to worship on the Sabbath Day.
Why?
- The Sabbath was a sign to Israel of the Old Covenant.
- The New Testament nowhere commands Christians to observe the Sabbath. The commandment not repeated in the New Testament.
- The early church worshipped on Sunday, the first day of the week (Acts 20:7).
- The Old Testament plainly states the Sabbath was for Israel only.
- The Jerusalem Council did not impose the Sabbath on Gentile believers.
- Paul in his epistles to the church never warned the church about breaking the Sabbath.
- Paul taught that keeping the Sabbath was a matter of Christian liberty (Rom. 14:5).
